Accounting and Information Systems

The accounting and information systems major gives students an opportunity to prepare for entry-level positions in various accounting and finance careers. Students study upper-level accounting courses in: financial reporting, including for-profit and not-for-profit entities, managerial and cost accounting, taxes, auditing, information systems, and international financial reporting.

 
 

Students are prepared to take professional level examinations such as the certified public accounting and certified managerial accounting exams.

Career opportunities include:

  • public accounting
  • managerial accounting
  • finance career tracks in business
  • not-for-profit entities
  • government.

Students also develop strong analytical skills that enable them to enter other related career areas.
